This is an exciting time to join the London Interdisciplinary Doctoral Training Partnership (LIDo DTP) in Biosciences, funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) multi-institutional collaboration, led by University College London (UCL) with King's College London as a major partner in this DTP.    

The role will be based in the King’s Doctoral College. The Doctoral College empowers our doctoral researchers to achieve their ambitions and is a hub for everyone involved in doctoral research at King’s. We help build an inclusive doctoral research community, bringing together students, supervisors and staff.

About the role

Following on the successful funding award in 2024 from BBSRC for LIDo Doctoral Landscape Award (DLA), King’s College London is recruiting for the role of BBSRC Studentships Co-Ordinator. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join our team, with a passion for coordinating a high-quality portfolio of PhD training and a commitment to supporting students to receive a great doctoral experience.  

In partnership with the UKRI Studentships Manager, you will undertake a range of administration tasks supporting the student lifecycle processes from pre-enrolment activities, through induction and registration, to graduation and beyond. You will work closely with the LIDo academic leadership team at King’s and the LIDo administrative hub in UCL to provide high-quality administrative and day-to-day support to ensure the smooth running of all administrative activity in LIDo.   

You will be working proactively across faculties and King’s central services (post-award studentships, student services, IT, finance, etc.), liaising with colleagues to support the management of LIDo at King’s. Reporting to the UKRI Studentships Manager, you will have diverse responsibilities, including supporting various student data entry updates and maintaining student records. 

This role requires building effective working relationships with colleagues at UCL -you will have an open and friendly communication style, with a collaborative approach, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels. 

This is a part-time post (0.5 FTE), offered on an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

1.      Professional experience within business, administration, office management, or similar sectors, working effectively in a high-pressure environment with requirements for compliance with terms & conditions and regulations.

2.      Experience in advanced data management and processing, with an ability to manipulate and interpret data, including financial data.

3.      Excellent project management skills and experience of working effectively on multiple tasks/projects at the same time.

4.      Strong attention to detail, with a proven track record of meticulous and high-precision delivery of tasks and projects. 

5.      Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft clear correspondence and engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders in a professional and approachable manner. 

6.      Experience of building an effective network across a complex organisation and with external stakeholders. A highly proactive approach to stakeholder engagement is essential, including the ability to take initiative, follow up diligently, and ensure timely responses from stakeholders 

7.      Proactive approach to continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

Desirable criteria

1.      Experience with Research Funding Management online tools and systems (WorkTribe, Business World).

2.      Good understanding of the UK PhD funding environment, experience of managing PhD studentships and in-depth understanding of PhD lifecycle.

3.      Experience of working with, and knowledge of, Research Council reporting systems (JeS)
