The Cybersecurity function is responsible for enabling businesses and functions to manage Information and Cybersecurity risks as well as ensuring controls are assessed and implemented appropriately and objectively through professional and specialized subject matter experts.
The Cyber Security Manager role will support the development of HSBC’s Cyber Simulations, across all Global Business/ Global Functions/Regions. The key responsibilities include the design, co-ordination and delivery of realistic, current and engaging Cyber Simulations to enhance senior management awareness and preparedness, and to validate Cyber and business incident response processes.
The role requires the ability to translate highly technical Cybersecurity concepts into consumable language, in order to drive continuous assessment and improvement of cybersecurity and information security risk in line with risk appetites and a constantly evolving cyber-threat landscape.
The role ensures the execution of the global Cybersecurity strategy through a series of run-the-bank programs within their respective Global Business/ Global Function and through coordination with the central Cybersecurity functions in execution of change-the-bank programs.
This role holder, will report in to the Global Head of Cyber Simulations, and works in partnership with the central functions of Group Cybersecurity, Business and Regional Information Security Officers, other Technology teams, Operational Resilience, Business Continuity and Incident Management (BCIM), key business and regional stakeholders including Chief Operating Officers, Chief Information Officers, BCP representatives, Operational Resilience and Chief Control Officers to ensure an effective and integrated response capability.

In this role, you will:
- Oversee a number of cyber business simulations
- Interface and collaborate with Operational Resilience, CSO IMR, BCIM, Business IMT and Technology Teams
- Design, coordinate and deliver a programme of realistic, current and engaging cyber business simulations
- Coordinate across multiple stakeholders to develop credible cyber business simulations
- Conduct a cyber business training needs assessment across all GB/GF/Rs, enabling delivery of a prioritised schedule of simulations
- Communicate cyber business simulation plans and approach
- Create processes to streamline the cyber business simulation framework and package
- Create and maintain cross-departmental and location relationships to enable success
- Capture observations and recommendations from the cyber business simulations
- Govern and oversee the resolution of actions identified as a result of the simulation, individually for each business unit and collectively for global businesses
- Validate existing response processes are fit-for-purpose
- Develop measure, and analyse Key Performance Indicators to measure training effectiveness
- Identify and resolve issues which impact cyber business simulations
- Support the Global Head of Cyber Simulations in developing short- and long-term strategy, improving HSBC’s overarching cyber simulation capability
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Experience in developing and facilitating exercises, simulations
- Understanding of Operational Resilience, ideally within the financial services environment
- Experience of programme management and IT infrastructure in a large-scale Cybersecurity Financial Services environment is preferable; other domains and industries will be considered
- Experience of working on global portfolios servicing businesses, functions and with regional stakeholders
- Previous experience of delivering excellent customer service, with the ability to demonstrate a positive and professional attitude whilst being flexible, adaptable and open to change
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity/ IT and some knowledge of Cyber risk and controls quantification
This role is based in Sheffield; other UK locations, including Birmingham and Edinburg,h can be considered.
