Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain Java-based applications for pricing and risk management across various asset classes (derivatives, fixed income, etc.) on Distributed Compute Infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with quantitative analysts, traders, and risk managers to develop and enhance intraday risk applications.
  • Architect and design scalable, reliable, and efficient software solutions while ensuring performance and stability of the system.
  • Work with databases (SQL and NoSQL) to design and optimize data storage solutions that support large-scale, high-volume financial data.
  • Support database integration/migration (postgres/mongo), caching (hazelcast), clickhouse, communication (solace), security (hashicorp, SSO tokens, Kong integration).
  • Ensure the integration of the system with other internal and external financial systems, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
  • Apply your considerable experience of time series, big data and general data capture, storage, retrieval and processing.
  • Build services with a framework and generic pattern mindset for scale across multiple dimensions – optimized compute/performance, functional, visualization, quality control.
  • Regional leadership of developers in Europe. Lead and mentor junior developers, providing guidance on technical issues and best practices.
  • Implement and enforce safe defensive coding, intelligent design, and access control in supportable applications
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in financial technologies, incorporating innovative solutions into the development process.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring high-quality code standards and adherence to best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, scalability, and data integrity within financial applications.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the software development lifecycle, including agile practices, testing strategies, and deployment automation.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (Master's degree is a plus).
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in Java development, with a focus on financial applications.
  • Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Guice, Grpc, etc.
  • Strong experience in pricing, risk management, and financial modeling, particularly in areas such as derivatives, options, and fixed income products.
  • Proven experience designing and developing scalable, high-performance applications and systems.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns, including microservices and distributed systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in database design and optimization (SQL, NoSQL, and data warehousing).
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with financial risk management frameworks and systems (e.g., Value-at-Risk, Stress Testing, Credit Risk).
  • Familiarity with financial data feeds, market data providers, and FIX protocol.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum environment with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a timely manner.
  • Exposure to web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) or front-end frameworks (Angular, React) is a plus.
