Associate, ABS Credit Trader

Credit Trading –Securitised Products Trading (SPT) is focused on activities in the Global Structured Finance / Asset Backed Securities markets. The SPT desk is an established industry participant in trading, investing and financing Global ABS products across asset classes and capital structures. The team located in London, Hong Kong and Shanghai creates further synergies across our client network, providing customised securitised solutions for clients (investors and issuers) by leveraging on the credit solutions and origination product base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the desk in executing the strategic direction and performance of SPT Trading by working with the Global Head, SPT and develop SCB’s SPT franchise globally through the Trading book and expanding our financing agendas for ABS/RMBS/CMBS/CLOs and other asset-backed products
  • Help execute Securitised Products Trading specific strategies and ensure that performance objectives and revenue goals are met and RWA targets managed
  • Increase SCB's visibility by driving commercial, competitive pricing of securitised products for our clients
  • Accountable for setting achievable performance targets relating to business
  • To deepen existing client relationships through regular conversations and by giving market colour
  • To work with DCM/Sales/RMs to identify new prospects and client opportunities
  • Provide sales desks with competitive pricing and product support in our endeavour to out-serve
  • To explore new products and structures to increase the breadth and depth of the market
  • Providing proactive, comprehensive and timely credit analysis to risk, credit sales and clients
  • Spotting opportunities and providing forecasts and challenging views on markets, asset classes and issuers
  • Ensure adherence to all internal and external regulations.
  • To embed Operational Risk monitoring as an integral part of the business process. Towards this, to effectively carry out the assigned role, if any, under Compliance Risk Management and Operational Risk Management Assurance.
  • Ensure that the business meets its obligations in the prevention of money laundering under the Group Policy and Standards and under local laws and regulations.
  • Help ensure that there are appropriate and documented internal controls and procedures in place. Help monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure that they reflect any changes in products, systems, policies and regulations
  • Accountable for helping establish and maintain frameworks to ensure ABS trading, especially EMEA and Americas processes, are efficient, appropriate and compliant with all internal and external regulations.

Skills and Experience

  • A strong technical background, ideally in mathematics, engineering, or a related field
  • Previous experience in finance is preferred 
  • Coding skills or familiarity with programming languages is considered an asset
