Virgin Money

We have an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced, and talented Scrum Master who is actively looking for their next permanent career challenge. We are undergoing an agile transformation and are in the process of embedding Agile project delivery practices across our Tribes and Squads. Therefore, it’s a truly exciting time to join the team.

Our Scrum Master’s play a critical role in embedding Agile Practices within our organisation, driving performance and delivery, and being accountable for creating motivated and high performing squads.

What you’ll be doing • Guide the squads and the organisation on how to use Scrum and Agile practices to continuously improve their delivery • Coaching and supporting the Product Owners and squad on current Agile best practices across all disciplines, including TDD, BDD backlog refinement and continuous improvement. • Supporting the POs (Product Owners) and BAs (Business Analysts) in breaking down work, story mapping and release planning. • Working with squads and relevant stakeholders to continuously inspect and adapt the development pipeline. • Motivating and engaging the team to take ownership of delivery of the product; giving them the tools and knowledge to commit to delivering planned work within each sprint. • Facilitation skills and must have the ability to add value to the team. Fostering an environment of physiological safety for the squads, including team health checks and facilitation of retrospectives on a frequent basis to identify areas of continuous improvement, including retrospection on why any sprint delivery may have been affected. • Ensuring all real-time metrics (e.g. burn chart, sprint plan) are visible and feeding these into the overall delivery plan. • Coaching and mentoring other scrum masters and stakeholders across the organisation.

We need you to have • SME knowledge of Agile frameworks and their underlying values and principles • Strong motivational skills to enable the team to commit to and follow through on agreed delivery • Great leadership abilities, with superb communication skills as well as the ability and soft skills to mentor and coach newly formed teams • Demonstratable and numerous examples of learning by experience and doing over learning by certification • Practical experience in agile transformation, including other agile approaches, introduction to Scrum, Kanban, and lean-agile delivery within a complex, regulated environment. • In-depth experience gained in a large software development organisation – ideally in financial service – working with cross-functional delivery teams, including co-located and distributed teams

It’s a bonus if you have, but not essential • Knowledge of digital delivery practices is a big benefit, e.g. Continuous Integration • Demonstrable experience in a complex multi-project delivery Financial Services environment • Knowledge of banking operations or financial service experience

Red Hot Rewards • Generous holidays - 38.5 days annual leave (including bank holidays and prorated if part-time) plus the option to buy more • Up to five extra paid well-being days per year • 20 weeks paid, gender-neutral family leave (52 weeks in total) for expectant parents and those looking to adopt • Market-leading pension • Free private medical cover, income protection and life assurance • Flexible benefits include Cycle to Work, wellness and health assessments, and critical illness • Ability to work anywhere in the UK (where the role allows)
