The Role 

At Dojo, the Enterprise Technology tribe is all about setting up and managing the systems that keep our business running smoothly, both now and in the future. We handle a mix of custom and third-party tools, always focusing on making operations more efficient and effective. Our goal is to streamline time-consuming processes, reduce risk, and support our teams by prioritising the business systems that help them push our product strategy forward. We also build strong partnerships with third-party providers to keep things running smoothly.

As a Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in optimising and managing cloud costs while ensuring efficient cloud resource utilisation.

 

What you’ll do…

  • Develop and implement a cloud cost optimisation framework and governance for GCP, AWS, Oracle, and Azure to reduce expenses and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, implement, maintain, and automate tagging standards for cloud resources, enabling better cost allocation, tracking, and governance.
  • Monitor daily cloud spending across platforms, generating weekly and monthly reports to track trends and anomalies.
  • Gather, analyse, and prioritise cloud optimisation recommendations from various sources. Calculate potential cost savings and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Leverage your expertise in cloud cost optimisation strategies to identify opportunities for cost savings, resource rightsizing, and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure recommendations align with governance processes and collaborate with engineering teams for implementation.
  • When not fully engaged in Cloud FinOps activities, work with platform technology teams to analyse consumption-based SaaS applications for further cost optimisation opportunities.

 

What you’ll bring…

  • Deep understanding of public cloud pricing schemes, ideally including GCP, AWS, Oracle Cloud, and Azure.
  • Experience with both native and third-party public cloud cost management and advisory tools such as Ternary, GCP Billing, GCP BigQuery, GCP Recommender, AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Trusted Advisor, and OCI Billing.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data visualisation tools like DataStudio, BigQuery, Looker, etc., to analyse cost data, create reports, and present insights.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Oracle Cloud) and the ability to consolidate data and deliver aggregate views/reports.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal teams and vendors.
  • Certification in GCP or AWS is highly desirable, as it demonstrates your expertise in cloud services and cost management.
